I am originally from Parma, Ohio and have been drawing since age 2. In school, I loved and excelled in art, but I also loved the subjects of history and literature as well. After graduating Normandy High School in 1994, I moved to Michigan to pursue a degree in Classical Studies at Eastern Michigan University. While in college - and in between Latin and Greek studies - I was very active in the theater costume shop, and spent time with friends playing tabletop and LARP role playing games. Gaming provided great motivation to draw, and in D&D sessions I would sit with my dice and sketch pad illustrating the characters of the world. I also sought inspiration in the imagery of favored books by J.R.R. Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Marion Zimmer Bradley and Orson Scott Card.

While still in college, I began to attend SCA events and after college became very involved in the Society. It was through the SCA in 2002 that I came across illumination art, and within months was making scrolls for the Kingdom. I enjoyed the later periods of illumination and my preferred styles rapidly became those from the mid-fourteenth through mid-fifteenth century. I began teaching classes on illumination at events, encouraging more people to become interested in calligraphy and illumination. In 2006, I was awarded the Order of the Evergreen for my service and skill in the Society.

At present, I am working on a very exciting project - a fallen angel tarot deck with occult author Michelle Belanger. The art is inspired in large part by the works of Arthur Rackham and done in watercolor. The release date is October 2011.
